Director of Bands
Joshua D. Blair serves as the Director of
Bands at Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts. There,
Mr. Blair directs the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Jazz
Ensemble, and the Marching Pride. Under the direction of Mr.
Blair, the ensembles at Cypress Lake High School have received
straight superiors at district and state festivals.
Mr. Blair received undergraduate degrees in political science, humanities, and music from Stetson University in 2004. While at Stetson University Mr. Blair performed and studied under the baton of Dr. Bobby Adams. He completed his Master of Music degree with concentrations in instrumental conducting and saxophone performance from the University of South Florida in 2007. Mr. Blair has studied saxophone with Professor Jim Bishop, Dr. Jonathan Helton, Professor Valerie Gillespie and conducting with Joe Kreines and Dr. William Wiedrich.
Mr. Blair is an active musician throughout
the state of Florida. He has worked with many different high
school bands as a guest clinician. Mr. Blair also serves as the
Saxophone Professor at Edison College in Fort Myers. Prior to
coming to Cypress Lake High School, Mr. Blair taught at Sarasota
High School, maintained a private saxophone studio and performed
as a guest soloist with many different ensembles throughout the
state.

Associate Director of Bands David Scott Keen is originally from Columbus, Mississippi, but now lives in Cape Coral. He has grown up loving music, and began his professional career in the summer of 1998 when Mr. Keen was involved with Magic Of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps marching cymbals. The following year he was invited to be a drum technician for Percussion One ( a group out of Texas ). At this time Mr. Keen was also part of Yamaha Sounds of Summer, teaching students of all ages the power of music. Traveling city to city during the summer of 1999 Mr. Keen was able to learn many techniques about drum writing and teaching. Later once again David was apart of Magic Of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. This time Marching on the snare line. Once David completed his years in the drum and bugle corps. He began to teach drumlines at many of the local schools in the area. Currently Mr. Keen is very proud to be working with two very good programs. On a side note. David Keen loves to work hard and play hard. He has seen this Cypress Lake program grow and develop into something special. The students and the staff are very excited about the future to come. GO PANTHERS!!! |

Visual Ensemble Instructor
Known for his ability to design shows that appeal to the crowd, Richard Plummer, alumni of Cypress Lake High School (96-99), started his career of right, spreading his knowledge across many schools in the Lee & Collier County area. He has not only worked with many local groups but has also designed shows in the Philadelphia, Delaware, Atlanta, and Orlando areas. He has had professional training from many well known choreographers and performing art companies including Alliance of Miami & Fahrenheit Independent World. After completing his last year performing in 2008, Richard has relocated back to the SW Florida area and hopes to continue his color guard career teaching. |
